DAY #2: DO WHAT’S GOOD, RIGHT, OR TRUE

For the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true.

Ephesians 5:9, ESV

It’s a shame we don’t ask God for help more often. We have a 24-7 access to God’s counsel in person of the Holy Spirit. Today, I want to encourage you to pause and ask God to align more of his convictions with yours. Ask him to help give you counsel in your life, to do what he wants and live as he wants.

In doing so, I believe you will reduce stress and feel blessed. The Holy Spirit is a helper. As we invite him to work in and through us, he cultivates the fruit: goodness, righteousness, and truth.

Today, you will have to make some decisions, some big, some small. Ask the Holy Spirit, “Lord, is this good or bad? Is this right or wrong? Is this true or is this false?” Wait for him to guide your thoughts and your emotions.

Don’t be afraid to ask God questions. Once you’ve come to some conclusion, realize the work of the Holy Spirit is mysterious. It’s not always black and white, as though God writes your answer across the sky. Yet he is present and will guide you into what is good, right, and true as you seek him. Take some time now in prayer, talking to God about your day, and ask him questions, and allow there to be silence.

As God’s word says, “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31, ESV

Once you get your answer, if it’s good, right, or true, walk in full confidence that you’ve got God’s blessing, and go for it. As you live like this, you are sharing God’s common grace with people all around you, and it is fruit for the soul. The goodness, the righteousness, and the truth is refreshing for the soul.
