Faith Flags
Many people find it difficult to share their faith. “Faith flags” are an easy way to shift spiritual conversations. Faith flags are easy, non-threatening statements that lead into spiritual conversations regarding faith. Take for example my neighbor. I noticed that he always wears a gold cross necklace; so one day at the mail box, I decide to throw out a faith flag.
After some small talk, I say “So, what’s that cross you wear around your neck?”
After just a moment, my neighbor says, “Well my grandfather gave it to me. He was a devout Catholic, but I never go to church. But I believe in god you know.” Now the door is open to talk about faith. Each day I usually find at least two opportunities to throw out a faith flag, and most people will pick them up and be willing to talk. Look for your chance to throw out a faith flag.
