How Bible-Based Preaching & Baptism Impacts Growth

In today’s fast-paced world, finding a place where faith feels alive and engaging can often be a challenge. Mary McDaniel, a former Catholic, shares her transformative experience at North Valley Church, highlighting how it has redefined her relationship with God and community.
For Mary, church used to feel like a chore. “As a former Catholic, going to church was a chore. It was something I had to do and not something I enjoyed, even though I loved Jesus with my whole heart.” However, her perspective changed significantly after joining North Valley. “At North Valley, I’m learning the Bible and how to apply it to everyday life. I enjoy and look forward to Sundays at North Valley,” she reflects, emphasizing how the church’s approach reinvigorated her faith.
One of Mary’s favorite aspects of North Valley is its dedication to biblical teachings. “My favorite part of the church is that it adheres to the teachings of the Bible. I also value how Pastor Ryan relates it to real-life situations,” she explains. This practical application of scripture has made her engagement with faith meaningful and relatable.
Mary also recognizes the importance of community and service in her spiritual journey. “The Lord has asked all of us to spread his word by serving. I am helping to get His word out, even if it is just in a small way, through serving on the guest services team, attending Bible studies, and being a part of a community group. I am learning Jesus's teachings, which helps me spread the word even more.” This sense of active participation has reinforced her commitment to her faith and the church community.
Reflecting on her previous experiences, Mary acknowledges a sense of stagnation in her spiritual growth. “As a Catholic growing up, I felt I had completely maxed out my learning of God. Being at North Valley has shown me that I can always be growing, in both head and heart knowledge.” Her journey at North Valley didn’t just stop at learning; it sparked a deeper understanding and passion for her faith. “Since being at North Valley and making the decision to be baptized, I better understand God’s word and more confidently spread it to others,” she shares. Mary further asserts, “It has stretched me, grown me, and drawn me closer to God as I gain a greater understanding of His word.” Mary’s testimony is a beautiful reminder of the transformative power of community and the joy of discovering a faith that is alive and dynamic.
