How Community Transformed Isolation into Friendship
At North Valley, we believe life is better together. For Shae Toddy, that truth became a reality the moment she stepped through our doors.
“When I first came to North Valley, my life completely changed,” Shae shared. “I have built such strong Christian friendships with people who are so uplifting and supportive. Being alone and keeping to myself was my normal until my wonderful new friends pulled me out of my shell and welcomed me into community group.”
From her very first Sunday, Pastor Ryan introduced Shae to community groups. Even though she was shy, she remembers feeling encouraged to take that step. “I’ll forever be so grateful he felt compelled to introduce me to everyone,” she said. “Every time I walk into church I know I’m not alone when I see all the familiar faces of friends!”
What once felt intimidating quickly became a source of joy. “The amount of growth I’ve experienced from being terrified to go to a group where I didn’t know anyone, to having group be the highlight of my week, is not something I could’ve comprehended a year ago,” Shae explained. “To not only grow myself but to see others growing alongside me has been so encouraging.”
Shae’s story is a beautiful reminder of the power of biblical community. What began as fear and isolation has turned into courage, friendship, and spiritual growth. “I used to feel so alone in my walk with Christ,” she said. “Now I know I don’t need to hide. My strength is Christ in me, and I’m called to let His light shine through me!”
At North Valley, we celebrate stories like Shae’s—because they show how God uses community to transform lives.
