Listen
Over the years, I have learned that one of the most helpful outreach tools is listening. Learning to listen was a change for me. As a new believer, I thought everyone wanted to hear what I had to say because I had the greatest news in the world! The gospel surely is the greatest news, but people still didn’t want to hear from me until I listened to them. Listening to others builds a little bit of trust, because a posture of listening communicates “I really care about you and your story.” This is very helpful to build a bridge into someone’s life. Listening also helps reveal what the person is struggling with or where they are hurting. When I listen, I learn where I can bridge into the person’s life and how to engage specific areas with the gospel. Would you be willing to try this out today? Listen to someone else before asking them to listen to you
