HOW TO BLESS OTHERS WITH YOUR WORDS

1. Show Respect | Be the person who builds up and doesn’t tear them down.

 Titus 3:2, 1 Peter 2:17, Romans 12:10

2. Offer Mercy and Forgiveness | Offering forgiveness may be the most common way to bless someone with words.

2 Corinthians 2:7, Colossians 3:13, Job 4:4, Matthew 5:7

3. Express Compassion | Remember the one “law” of Christ was to love one

another.

Colossians 3:12, Galatians 6:2, Jude 1:22, Job 6:14

4. Speak Honestly | You talk about a problem, not around a problem.

Proverbs 24:26, Ephesians 4:15, Galatians 6:1, Proverbs 28:23, Ecclesiastes 8:6, Proverbs 27:14

5. Affirm them Expectantly | We tend to live up to what other people expect of us.

   1 Thessalonians 5:11

TALK IT OVER

Ice Breaker – What’s one of the kindest things someone has said to you recently?

1. Pastor Bob taught about being a blessing to others with your words. What stood out to you about his sermon? Why?

2. Take a minute to review the sermon outline. Which one is hardest for you? Which one is the easiest to apply?

3. Ask for a few volunteers to look up some of the passages related to the sermon points and discuss. Pick and choose a few of the points to discuss. (Note: As a leader you will want to look up passages ahead of time to better understand the context of the supporting passages.)

4. Take some time to share why this message is so important for Christians at home, at work, and at church.

5. Take some time to pray for the church and for one another.
