Talk It Over
Icebreaker: What’s the funniest or most unexpected rule or behavior you’ve seen
someone try to enforce as a "Christian"?
1. Take a minute to review the sermon outline and read Titus 2:1-10. What themes
or instructions stand out to you?
2. What stood out to you most from the sermon and why?
3. According to Titus 2:1-2, what are the qualities pastors/elders and older men are
called to demonstrate? How can these qualities set an example for others?
Cross-reference: 1 Peter 5:2-3.
4. In Titus 2:3-4, how are older women encouraged to mentor younger women?
How can this apply practically in the church today? Cross-reference: Proverbs
31:26.5.
5. Titus 2:5 describes the roles of younger women in the home and community. Why do you think Paul emphasizes these qualities, and how do they reflect
God’s design? Cross-reference: 1 Timothy 5:14.
6. For younger men, Titus 2:6-8 focuses on self-control and integrity. What does
self-control look like in today’s world, and why is it essential for a strong witness?
Cross-reference: 1 Timothy 4:12.
7. Titus 2:9-10 addresses bondservants/employees. What specific attitudes and
behaviors are encouraged? How do these demonstrate a witness to the gospel?
Cross-reference: Colossians 3:23-24.
8. Looking at the wrong and right views of Christian living (Behave > Believe >
Belong vs. Belong > Believe > Behave), where have you seen the wrong view
cause harm? How can the right view change our relationships and witness?
9. Paul says in Titus 2:10 that our behavior should “adorn the doctrine of God.”
What does it look like for our lives to make the gospel attractive? Cross-
reference: Matthew 5:16.
10. Reflect on the new season at North Valley outlined in the sermon. How can you
take a next step—whether it’s reviewing the What We Teach statement,
embracing Basic Beliefs, or engaging in the revised discipleship model?
