THE PASSAGE

Genesis 12, Romans 11, Revelation 1:1-8, ESV

TALK IT OVER

Ice Breaker: Share a memorable moment how you experienced God’s answer to pray in a tough time.

As we gather, we must remember God’s word provides us with divine revelation to give us insights into the issues we face in our culture.  While there were two different services and messages, today we are looking at the scripture Pastor Ryan taught on Sunday. You may want to discuss some of the topics covered in Thursday’s Live Q&A as well.

1. We live in some crazy times. What is God teaching you right now?

2. Reading Revelation 1:1-8, what stands out to you the most in this passage and why?

3. In Revelation 1:5, Jesus is referred to as "the faithful witness". How does this title impact your understanding of His role in our lives and faith journey?

4. The title "the firstborn of the dead" is given to Jesus in the same verse. What significance does this title hold for you personally?

5. Revelation 1:5 also mentions Jesus as "the ruler of kings on earth." How does this title influence your perspective on Christ's authority and His role in the world today?

6. In Revelation 1:7, the imminent return of Jesus is emphasized. How does the idea of Jesus coming "soon" impact your faith and actions as a Christian?

7. How does the concept of being a "kingdom” and “priests," as described in 1 Peter 2:9, influence your understanding of your role as a Christian?

8. Prophecy often offers hope for the future. How can a focus on God's promises, as mentioned in Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 8:18, bring comfort and perspective to our lives during challenging times?

9. In light of the passage, how can you practically align your life with God's eternal perspective and His prophetic promises?

10. Considering Jesus as "the faithful witness," how can you reflect His faithfulness in your daily interactions and relationships?

11. How does the imminent return of Jesus inspire you to live a life of faithfulness and to share the hope of His coming with others?

12. Pastor Ryan talked about the importance of being a witness not only for this generation but future generations as well! Read Galatians 6:9-10. What’s it tell us to do and what kind of promise can you hold on to?

13. In what ways can you actively help expand God’s kingdom in your community and daily life?

PRAY

  • Pray for one another’s personal needs & the witness of our church.

  • Pray for Jerusalem, as suggested in Psalm 122:6, and what significance does this hold in your faith journey?
