Servant Leadership

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…..”

Jesus Himself is the ultimate example of servant leadership. His life was a humble offering to submit His will to His Father. In Christ we have a timeless paradigm for leadership. We define leadership at our church as taking the initiative for the benefit of others. This guides us to serve with a heart like Christ. Rejecting passivity and accepting responsibility to fulfill our calling as a Christian is one of action. As James says faith without deeds is dead! The goal of leadership is to grow in obedience and fulfill the great commandments to love God and our neighbor. This takes intentional daily decisions not motivated out of self-interest but for the interest of others. Might we lead by serving as our Lord did, resulting in a benefit for all in tangible ways.
